The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) today welcomed the endorsement by the Howard Government to upgrade the facilities of Australia's only propellant factory at Mulwala on the Victoria New South Wales border.
“Great news for the job security of some 600 people living in this rural area of Australia” said SSAA spokesman Mr Gary Fleetwood.
“The commitment by this Government to ensure Australia has the ability to produce strategic defence material is welcome in light of the current uncertainty in our world.” Mr Fleetwood said.
“The 125,000 members of this Association supports the Howard Government's decision to ensure that the world's best sporting gunpowder will continue to be available to recreational sporting shooters.”
