Importing or exporting firearms in Australia

Most firearms, ammunition and related components require permission in order to be imported or exported in Australia. The Australian Border Force (formerly the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service) can assist you in determining which authority you need to contact to obtain the relevant permission to import or export these items.

Mailing firearms or firearm parts

Firearms, parts, explosives and highly flammable substances require permission in order to be posted for delivery within Australia or overseas. Australia Post can advise you about the safety regulations for sending these items via road or air.
