Damon de Ruiter, a chef and business owner, who decided to jump ship after 40 years of cooking and enter the world of wine. In 2006, he planted the seeds for what would become Outlaw Wines.

In 2010, Damon took a significant step in his winemaking journey by acquiring a vineyard with 1890 planted Shiraz vines. These dry-grown, gnarly vines are a sight to behold. They continue to produce exquisite fruit, offering a taste of history with every harvest—an incredible testament to the vineyard’s legacy and the commitment to quality.

In 2021, Damon turned the page, retiring from the kitchen to fully embrace his winemaking journey.

In 2022, he began selling Outlaw Wines to some of the most remote hotels, pubs, and roadhouses across Australia. This venture has blossomed into a remarkable success, as Damon has become a familiar face in the outback, forging connections with extraordinary people who run these establishments and those who savor the wines.
