2022 SSAA Muzzle Loading and Black Powder Cartridge Nationals

This year over the Easter long weekend, the Muzzle Loading and Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Nationals were hosted by SSAA Para Branch in South Australia.Unfortunately due to Covid, the floods in the eastern states and fuel reaching peak prices resulted in nominations being down this year compared to previous years, but everyone who attended shot with enthusiasm nonetheless. Overall 28 shooters participated from 4 states (WA, SA, NSW and QLD).The weather conditions were very favourable this year and allowed many shooters to achieve PBs, some even picked up their first ever national gold medal. And whilst some got very close to beating a national record and collecting the cash prize no one was able to do it. Maybe there is incentive to put it up again next year? The document attached gives a summary of all the results from the nationals, including current hall of fame points and national/australian records. Some are getting very close to the 100 points required for the hall of fame patch.Next year’s Nationals are scheduled to be hosted in Western Australia over the Easter Long Weekend (7th of April to the 10th of April). Nomination forms and programs will likely be sent out and uploaded to the national website later in the year. The Perth club puts on an excellent shoot for those looking to make the trip over.Starting in August this year there will be the national postal shoot. Keep an eye out in the shooting magazine and on the national website for more details. We also have a SSAA Muzzle loading Facebook page. I encourage everyone to put on some posts about what you are shooting during the year, maybe some loads you have been trying or some good targets you have shot.
