SSAA NSW 2026 Big Game Rifle State Titles

Event Program

Friday 29th May, Camping Set-up and Practice Camping Set-up from 10.00am, Range available for practice 12.30pm – 3.00pm.

Time, circumstances, and competitor numbers permitting, Supplementary Event, Range 2:

Event 1: Match 17.1.2    African Plains Rifle. (20 Rounds). Shooting sticks / slings required!

Saturday 30th  May, Rifle Events
Rifle Scrutineering 8.00am. Briefing at 8.40am. Competition begins 9.00am.
Event 2: Match 17.1.11. Pot Rifle (2). (15 Rounds).
Event 3: Match 17.1.7.  Light Nitro / Hunting Class. (20 Rounds).
Event 4: Match 5.3.1.    Special Snap.   (8 Rounds).
Event 5: Match 5.3.3.    Group One. (20 Rounds).
Event 6: Match 5.3.4.    Black Powder Express. (20 Rounds).
Event 7: Match 5.3.2     Stalking Double Rifle. (14 Rounds).

Sunday 31st May, Rifle Events
Rifle Scrutineering 8.30am. Briefing at 9.15am. Competition begins 9.30am.
Event 8:   Match 5.3.5           Stopping Double Rifle. (10 Rounds).
Event 9:   Match 5.3.6. Group Two. (14 Rounds).
Event 10: Match 5.3.8.   Group Three. (8 Rounds).
Event 11: Match 5.3.7    Bore Guns and Rifles. (14 Rounds).

Please note that the scheduling of events may be altered, pending final competitor numbers in each event.

Event Nominations

Nominations will only be accepted upon a duly completed nomination form. Payment of the nomination fee of 80.00, covering entry to all events of the State Titles payable on the day. Nominations for Juniors are half-price, ie: $40.00. If the competitor only wishes to compete in certain events nominations will be $15 per individual event

Upon nomination, competitors will be squadded into shooting details. Please advise if you are sharing equipment with another competitor, and whom they are, so as we can ensure you are in separate details, and both have an opportunity to compete successfully.

Due to the cancellation of NSW BGR Titles events, and attempts to reschedule, since 2020, organisers would prefer entry payments to be made on the day of competition, in order to minimize inconvenience to all parties.

The organisers reserve the right to adjust the programme to reflect any changes of circumstances, (such as inclement weather) that may occur over the course of the Championships.

Rules

The program will be conducted in accordance with SSAA Big Game Rifle Official National Rules, Issue No.5, 2024. Rules are available at:  Big game rifle – Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia (SSAA)

Range Restrictions:
•       Maximum muzzle energy not exceeding 5,600 ft/lbs.
•       Cartridge chamberings such as .338 Lapua Magnum and .50 BMG, including similar wildcats and derivatives thereof, are not Traditional BGR Cartridges, and are specifically excluded from this Titles event.
Rifle Eligibility:
All Rifles must be in a sporting configuration, meeting the calibre and energy criteria of both the Group and Event which you intend to enter. They are rifles which would ordinarily be used for the harvesting of Big Game, and are ‘in the Spirit of the Event’. Heavy – barreled, long – range rigs, or rifles with muzzle brakes or ‘ported’ barrels are not permitted in Groups One, Two or Three.

SSAA Glen Innes Branch – Local Club Rules:

SSAA Glen Innes Branch local club Rules forbid the wearing of Hi-Viz and fluorescent clothing unless the wearer is performing Range Officer duties at the time. Additionally, the transmission and /or publishing of photographs / videos via email or to any social media sites is expressly prohibited, unless prior authorization is obtained from the SSAA Glen Innes committee.

Prizes

Awards:
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Medals provided for all individual rifle events.
Championship Medals are provided as follows:
•       NSW Big Game Rifle Champion.    (Events 4 – 11 inclusive).
•       NSW Big Game Rifle Ladies Champion.
•       NSW Big Game Rifle Junior Champion.
•       NSW Big Game Rifle Veteran Champion.
The award ceremony will be conducted at the conclusion of shooting on Sunday

Event Facilities

Camping and Caravans permitted at the Range from Friday to Monday, Male and Female toilets and hot showers located at the Range. The club house will be open for those who wish to camp indoors.
