Stand up for hunting in SA and Vic government inquiries

The South Australian and Victorian governments are conducting inquiries into the harvesting of wild duck and quail that could impact the future of hunting wild food in our country.

Individuals who hunt, or support those who do, should consider making a submission.

We as a community need to ensure that people retain the right to participate in and enjoy the benefits of harvesting wild duck and quail – sustainable, free-range, organic, and healthy wild food. A potential ban on duck and quail hunting will empower animal rights and anti-hunting groups to then target all types of hunting (including fishing) and even further restrict access to certain firearms for pest control.

The South Australian Government’s Select Committee of the Legislative Council established to inquire into and report on the Hunting of Native Birds is receiving submissions until May 19, 2023.

The Victorian Government’s Inquiry into Victoria’s Recreational Native Bird Hunting Arrangements is receiving submissions until May 8, 2023.

Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia (SSAA National) Wildlife Programs Leader Matthew Godson and SSAA Victoria have put together has put together guiding documents to help members create their submissions.
