SSAA FIREARMS INSURANCE – STILL THE BEST DEAL AROUND

While our incredible SSAA firearms insurance is definitely here to stay, the offer, which is only available to SSAA members, has increased from $30 per year to $35 per year. For years we fought to keep the SSAA firearms insurance down but, like the cost of all things, it inevitably must creep higher over time. The increase is effective for new policies from January 1, 2019.

We understand most firearms have not only a monetary value but also a sentimental one. Firearms are built to last for decades or longer and are passed down through generations, serving as heirlooms for many families. This is why we go to such lengths to create deals like the SSAA Firearms Insurance. While you may have other insurance plans, we are confident you won’t find a better deal when it comes to protecting your firearms, even with the $5 increase.

When you sign up for the SSAA firearms insurance, your firearms and fixed accessories will be covered at home, at the range, while hunting, plus overseas for up to 28 days. You’ll be covered against loss, theft or damage and the excess is still $100 per claim and offers replacement value of an insured item up to five years old, with all other claims being for indemnity value with damage being assessed by an approved firearms dealer.

In addition to the terms you are familiar with, damage resulting from the maintenance of a firearm, scratching and chipping of stocks, and damage caused through lack of proper maintenance of a firearm or wear and tear are not covered.

Like before, the SSAA firearms insurance will not cover theft where the equipment was not stored in an approved gun safe as required by applicable State or Territory or authority, other than when the equipment is in use or away from the insured person’s premises. Coverage also does not extend to where the insured person or any person or entity to whom the equipment has been entrusted, fails to comply with any law relating to either storage, use or handling of the equipment.

Despite these changes, when you compare the SSAA firearms insurance to your home and contents policy, which likely has a far greater excess than $100 and may only cover your firearms at home, we think you’ll be surprised at how good our deal is. We know firearms better than any other organisation, and the SSAA General Insurance Brokerage exists solely for the betterment of SSAA members. You can trust SSAA to safeguard your firearms and accessories. We will continue doing our best to protect and promote the interests of sporting shooters when it comes to matters of insurance as well as everything else.
