As an avid shooter myself, I believe firearms play an important part of day-to-day life for many Australians from recreational shooting, to responsible shooting and hunting in rural and regional areas.
I am proud to be part of a government committed to keeping Australia’s firearm laws among the strongest in the world.
This has been achieved through the Commonwealth and all states and territory governments having agreed to a national approach to the regulation of firearms, through signing the National Firearms Agreement.
The Commonwealth, states and territories work closely together to regulate firearms and maintain the safety of all Australians by ensuring that only those with a genuine reason and genuine need can access a firearm.
As part of a re-elected Liberal National Coalition Government, I look forward to using my experience, common sense approach, and feedback from Bonner’s recreational shooters to ensure public safety as well as a consistent national approach to the efficient and effective management of firearms in Australia.
