While the Federal Government might like to think that the recategorisation of lever-action shotguns is a done deal following a pledge by state and territory governments for a national consensus, the issue is not over by a long shot. The Liberal National Party (LNP) in Queensland, along with Katter’s Australian Party, looks set to block any proposed changes to firearm categories, with the LNP correctly consulting constituents via this online petition.
Queensland Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, however, is campaigning to “ban the Adler shotgun” on behalf of the Labor Party. Nioa, the importer of the Adler lever-action shotgun, has issued a fact-check video in response to Ms Trad’s many erroneous claims.
