Sea to Summit, a Perth-based firm which specialises in outdoor portable chargers for travelling adventurers, is now distributing two new innovative trailblazers under the umbrella of its Powertraveller range.
The Powermonkey Expedition is a ground-breaking charger that will generate power for those free-spirited travellers venturing into far-flung, remote regions. The device seems almost indestructible, being housed in tough-as-teak aluminium casing. The makers have ensured it is waterproof, shockproof and possesses amazing safety features such as surge protection and output voltage capping. The 10,500mAh lithium polymer battery can be charged in three ways: via the hand-powered crank, through solar connections or by using the international AC mains charger. This charger is guaranteed to do the job just about anywhere on the planet, being operational in 150 countries. Full recharge of the internal battery takes about six to eight hours.
The launch pack includes the Solarmonkey Expedition, which is a solar panel housed in a lightweight, aluminium case. This outputs 5 watts, 5V 1 Amp and can recharge the battery unit in 12 to 15 hours. The Powermonkey Expedition retails for around $699.95.
Also released under the Powertraveller banner is the Powermonkey Explorer 2, which gives users the ability to generate their own power from a small, compact unit, whatever the situation. The charger is blessed with a hard-hitting dual-core 6000mAh lithium-ion battery, capable of recharging iPhones and smartphones, mobiles, GPS, iPods, Mp3 players and more.
The Powermonkey Explorer 2 is waterproof for 30 minutes in up to 1m of water when used with the supplied cable. The design means that additional charging options can be added at a later date. The Powermonkey Explorer 2 retails for around $139.95 and is available in silver, matte black, red or blue.
Powertraveller products are available in Australia from a number of good camping and outdoor retailers.
