NIOA has been honoured with the Medium Business Award at the 2017 Telstra Queensland Business Awards earlier this month and it’s a win for firearms owners all around Australia.
The business comes from humble beginnings, starting life as just a dedicated corner in Bill Nioa’s service station 44 years ago. Today, NIOA is the largest privately-owned supplier of firearms and firearm accessories in the country and is 100 per cent Australian.
Managing director, Robert Nioa, said that he and his company are proud to be serving Australia. “Our products are on the frontline in the fight to protect our farmers’ crops and to humanely destroy feral pests that are damaging our nation’s native flora and fauna including near extinct animals such as the Julia Creek dunnart,” he said.
“We enable and inspire our next generation of Commonwealth and Olympic Games hopefuls every time they go to the shooting range. Frontline police officers, tactical teams, terrorist response units and border protection personnel go to work every day trusting in the products and services we supply to help them protect the Australian community and safely return to their families at night.”
The Telstra Queensland Business Awards were held at Brisbane City Hall and more than 5000 businesses were nominated. Part of the decision process included a judging panel visiting the NIOA facilities.
Queensland Business of the Year was taken out by Family Doctor Plus, while Agri Labour Australia received the accolade for Queensland Small Business.
