NIOA sets up shop in Canberra

The new NIOA office was officially opened by Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne in Canberra during the first week of December. NIOA have described the office as “the latest step in our ongoing commitment to supporting defence as a 100 per cent Australian prime contractor.”

Located in Brindabella Park, Minister Pyne described NIOA as Australia’s largest privately-owned company supplying weapons, ammunition and technical support to commercial, military and law enforcement markets. “NIOA’s global supply arrangement means our military will use the latest technology, while creating Australian jobs,” he said.

NIOA was recently awarded a major defence contract worth $95 million to supply more than 30 different munitions, ranging from small arms to 120mm M1A1 Abrams tank ammunition, to the Australian Defence Force across the next five years. The new office will focus on NIOA’s defence arm.
