Key firearms groups unite to respond to Senate Inquiry report

Key firearms industry and recreational shooting organisations have issued a detailed and targeted response addressing the final report from the Senate Inquiry into gun-related violence.

Authored by the National Firearms Dealers Association, Field and Game Australia, the Australian Deer Association, the Firearms Traders Association of Victoria and SSAA Victoria, the six-page response highlights that both the Committee Chair and Senator Penny Wright’s minority report, along with the majority report signed by most Committee members, found no comprehensive, accurate, verifiable or transparent data on which to base policies related to firearms and firearms ownership. The response also points out that the illicit market is a major source of firearms subsequently used to commit crimes, as shown in both reports.

SSAA National has extensively covered the Senate Inquiry from its inception, with our press releases, articles, videos of the public hearings and submission all available to access on the political section of our website.
