Gun trafficking charges welcomed

The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) today welcomed the announcement by the New South Wales Police Service that charges had been bought against three Sydney men for trafficking in illegal firearms.

“This is what the sporting shooters across Australia want to see reported in the media when it comes to gun issues – real results in ridding our society of those involved in the illegal gun trade.” spokesman Gary Fleetwood said.

“We without reservation support efforts by law enforcement to identify, charge and put before the courts those who peddle illegal guns. We await the decision of the Court in handing down penalties that have been prescribed under the Carr Government's recent implementation of the Firearms Trafficking Act.” Mr Fleetwood said.
