In a perfect start to the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia’s 2013 Year of the Hunter, a cookbook encouraging the home cook to prepare game meat for their table has been recognised with an international award.
The SSAA launched Field to Fork – The Australian Game Cookbook late last year and shortly after, the book received the Best First Cookbook in Australia title in the France-based Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
SSAA’s Special Project Officer in Hunting Matthew Godson said the cookbook was produced to appeal to and educate the non-hunting public.
“The Field to Fork book and approach to sourcing free-range food for your home is not only healthy, but also environmentally-friendly,” he said.
Hunting for the table is one of the four main types of hunting the SSAA recognises and is celebrating with its 2013 Year of the Hunter campaign. Every day, men and women across Australia are working behind the scenes to protect our country’s natural environment, manage wildlife, enjoy a healthy recreation and feed their family a truly healthy and green meal.
