As many of you would be aware, the fire danger season is upon us for the 2025-26 season.
With so many of our members being from regional areas or enjoying travelling to different rural communities, it is important that you are familiar with the restrictions you are living it or visiting.
Each state declares the Fire Danger Periods for districts differently in the lead up to the fire season, with the dates depending on risk factors including rainfall, grassland curing rate and other local conditions.
The Fire Danger Period may be declared as early as October in some areas and typically remains in place until the fire danger lessens, which in some areas could be as late as May.
Complacency can be a major risk, so if you’re planning a hunting trip, please be careful and make sure you are looking after yourself, everyone around you and the places you are travelling to.
Some fire agencies also help with guidance to create a “Traveller Bushfire Plan”, such as this one from the SA CFS – 2 Minute Traveller Bushfire Plan – CFS, to know the level of risk in the areas you’re travelling to and through, and what to do to keep yourself safe.
