Fellow sportsman who knocks our recreation caught in rape gaffe tape

The Liberal candidate recontesting former Prime Minister John Howard's seat in Sydney has been caught on film making crude and sexist remarks. Ironically, John Alexander is from a sports background, formerly playing and commentating tennis for Australia, but has been quick to belittle the sport of shooting as a legitimate activity.

Mr Alexander has often demonstrated his stance against sports shooting, boasting of his membership of a parliamentary friendship group established by anti-gun advocates, instead of joining the Friends of Shooting group steered by Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie. In November 2016, Mr Alexander told Fairfax Media, “I understand the need of people in regional areas to have certain types of rifles, but why would you need a gun in urban areas?”

Voters in the Bennelong electorate should be aware that Mr Alexander is no friend of the sporting shooter, ahead of the by-election on December 16.
