The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA National) Inc believes the Australian Democrats are clinging to the firearm issue because they have nothing of any substance to offer the electorate in the forthcoming Federal Election.
The call by Party Leader Meg Lees for a ban on the urban presence of firearms “to reduce US-style schoolyard shootings” is absurd because there have not been any such shootings in Australia.
Stringent firearm storage requirements already apply throughout Australia as a result of the new laws.
Now facing possible political demise, the Australian Democrats are desperately seeking to oppose One Nation. This call for more firearm bans reflects that issue more than their concerns for the safety of the public.
