The Australian Greens Party has again proven why its politicians cannot be trusted. Queensland Senator Larissa Waters and Western Australia Senator Scott Ludlam – co-deputies of the party – recently admitted to being in breach of Australia’s Constitution, with both holding dual citizenships. Both claimed ignorance.
The Constitution clearly states that a sitting member or senator cannot hold allegiances to any other nation. The Australian Greens has either been dreadfully disorganised in this apparent oversight or disturbingly dishonest.
This comes as Queensland Liberal National Senator Matthew Canavan heads to the High Court to contest his apparent dual citizenship status.
