The Minister for Agriculture, the Hon Barnaby Joyce, and the Queensland Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, the Hon William Byrne, announced today that the government is seeking applications for pest animal management projects to be conducted in drought-affected areas across Queensland.
In the June 11 press release ‘More funding to target pest animals in drought-affected areas’, Minister Joyce said that the programme, funded by the Australian Government and delivered by the Queensland Government, was an important element of effective drought support, and would follow on from the success of existing programs that have seen thousands of wild dogs, feral pigs and rabbits destroyed through targeted control measures.
