The SSAA NSW State Hunter Championships were held at the Coffs Harbour Dairyville range from May 16 to 19, 2015. As usual, Coffs turned on the weather for this event, with rain falling for three of the days. However, it did not dampen the spirits of those who competed and the consensus was that it was a great shoot, with some 45 shooters participating over the weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped at this event.
Local shooter Ian Thompson won four gold medals and one bronze medal in the Heavy Rimfire and Heavy Centrefire classes, claiming a new national record in the Heavy Rimfire 100 yards with a score of 250.8 and a new national record in the 2-Gun with a perfect score of 1000.46. His Rimfire equipment comprised a Walther rifle with a stock by Newcastle gunsmith Fred Lawler, topped with a March scope, while his Centrefire rifle was imported from the United States and made by Jim Borden and is topped with a Leupold Benchrest scope.
