2014 NRA World Action Pistol Championship

SSAA’s target shooting duo Craig Ginger and Greg Van Borssum stamped their mark all over the 2014 international handgun shooting scene when they won several major titles in the United States recently. The pair took out honours at the 9th World Action Pistol Championships, held at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky, in May, winning the Metallic Team category. Craig also excelled individually, placing third overall for his Metallic class.

Craig and Greg have long been shooting and training together and their success as a team is a delight for them both. Their joint achievement has cemented many years of competitive handgun shooting and both have plans to continue their good form.

“It’s always good fun when you’ve got a friend with you, even in the big shoots,” said Greg. “You have a rival, but you also have a supporter when things get tough.”

Craig said it was a “real honour” to win the Team Metallic title with Greg – something he never could have hoped for.

Craig and Greg joined SSAA Open class handgunners Lee Webb, Geoff Matthews, Richard Siebert and Mark Blake. The Open team placed just outside of the top three teams, coming in fourth, while individually, Lee placed 8th, Geoff placed 12th, Richard placed 26th and Mark placed 27th. Lee and Richard won first and second places respectively in the Falling Plates event, and Mark placed second in the Barricades event.
