SSAA Tasmania Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Rifle State Titles

Westbury is a rural town in the central north of Tasmania that boasts one of the best ranges for Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Rifle shooting. So the Westbury Pistol Club was a fitting venue for the 2015 State Titles, which were held over the weekend of March 14 and 15.

On arrival at the club on Friday afternoon, the scene looked sheer perfection with the range mowed and all mounds raked and ready. Saturday morning dawned crisp and clear, with 18 shooters ready to participate in the two events being held that day. All went well, but with rain on the horizon, the action was concluded about 3pm. Then came the downpour, which meant that the prospects for Sunday were not looking good.

However, on Sunday morning, we were greeted by a brilliant clear, blue sky and a sharp frost underfoot across the range. The same 18 shooters arrived to tackle the category rostered for the day.

There was some good shooting on display over the two days, with the meeting wrapping up around 12.30pm. Lunch was taken ahead of the trophy presentations, before all competitors headed home later in the afternoon.
