The weekend featured a total of 79 competitors from New Zealand, Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. The competition included 100 targets on Saturday and 100 targets on Sunday. The weather was quite cloudy with sun patches and some wind, which provided more challenging shooting conditions. Sunday’s competition had patches of heavy rain throughout the day. With four grounds, the course was well presented with good variety across both days. There were a few breakdowns during the event, and competitors were thanked for their patience.

Australia competed against New Zealand on Saturday afternoon in the McGowen Trophy Shoot. The competition consisted of teams in the open category as well as a mixed graded team. New Zealand won first place in both team events. Appreciation was expressed to all shooters and to those who made the event possible.

On Saturday night, PFRC hosted a sit-down meal at the club, which was well attended by the participants. The menu, provided by Regine & Luis, was noted for its abundance and quality.

PFRC was acknowledged for hosting a successful national event. Local sponsors supported the event with traps and controlling equipment, ensuring smooth execution. Special thanks went to Three Springs Sporting Clays, A & S Lawn Supplies, and Gun Ammo. Additionally, Perth Metro Sporting Clays was recognized for organizing a practice day and welcoming shooters.

Gratitude was extended to the Boab Tavern for providing 2 x $50 vouchers used as a lucky door prize, along with 4 x $50 SSAA merchandise vouchers from National. Terry Woodard from Golden Egg Western Australia donated 30 dozen eggs for use over the two weekends.

A thank you was directed to all PFRC volunteers for their planning and preparation that contributed to the success of the competition. Thanks were also given to Regine and Luis for their efforts in keeping the canteen stocked with refreshments and ensuring the nourishment of shooters throughout the event.

  • A very inspirational shoot by Michael after scoring a 14 on his first round. Michael was able to regroup and then come away with the High Gun win only dropping 7 targets in the next 175. An absolute awesome performance by him.
