SSAA Perth Field Rifle Club

Western Australia Club Profile

A Quick and easy 45-minute drive north of Perth brings you to the Wanneroo Shooting Complex, which is home to ten independent clubs, including the Perth Field Rifle Club (PFRC). The PFRC began under the leadership of President Paul Martz in 1974 with only 12 members but today boasts over 250 members, including juniors and ladies. In previous years, several of our members have represented the club exceptionally well, claiming the title of national champion in field rifle and 3-positional events and competing in several international events.

The PFRC caters to a variety of shooting needs. Disciplines shot include:

  • Rimfire or centrefire field rifle
  • 3-positional rifle
  • Benchrest
  • Field Pistol and IHMS (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette)
  • Shotgun (Simulated field, Trap, Skeet, Tower and 5 Stand)

A walk around the complex reveals a large brick clubhouse containing a modern toilet, canteen and support facilities. There is also ample parking, barbecue facilities, camping sites, a shotgun range, rifle range plus facilites for the disabled. Improvements to the site are ongoing, as is the possibility of adding a dedicated Pistol range. The labour and funding for the club's facilities came solely from the PFRC members - a fact which gives them much pride.

While the PFRC has all the modern amenities necessary to meet the needs of its members, it is also mindful of the need for conservation in this day and age. By generating their own power and collecting rainwater the PFRC serves as an excellent example for other organisations.

New members are always welcome.
