Jarrahdale Sporting Shooters Club

Western Australia Club Profile

Jarrahdale Sporting Shooters is a relatively new club, with a history that dates back some 30 years. The branch was formed in 1999 as a result of the amalgamation of the old Kwinana Districts and Mandurah branches. The search for a secure tract of land, necessary due to urban sprawl, dragged on for 10 years. It wasn’t until 1995 that some progress was finally made, thanks to the help of a couple of ex-Liberal politicians.

The Jarrahdale Shooting Complex is located about 3.5km east of the Jarrahdale townsite in Western Australia. Access is off Jarrahdale Road. Members began building the new complex in December 1998. After a huge amount of work, it now consists of three 50m pistol ranges, two 200m rifle ranges, one 300-yard rifle range and a shotgun layout catering for Trap and Skeet. Tower and field shotgunning is to come. Each range has its own administration/storage area and covered firing line (where applicable). The complex was designed to make full use of dividing bunds, so that multiple ranges can be used simultaneously with complete safety.

Currently, the club shoots Practical Pistol, Single Action, Field Rifle/3-Positional Rifle, Field Pistol, Benchrest, Shotgun (Trap and Skeet) and International Handgun Metallic Silhouette. The club also has the capability and approval to shoot several additional disciplines.

The central feature of the complex is the well-appointed clubhouse, which has ample areas for social activities. It has a modern kitchen, male and female toilets and showers and an accessible toilet.

The future holds great promise for the Jarrahdale club. With the continued support of its members and a little help from local and state government agencies, it has enormous potential for growth. It is the club’s goal to make the Jarrahdale Shooting Complex the best facility of its kind in Western Australia.
