Knives, blunt instruments and strangulation used in 90 per cent of homicides
Australian Institute of Criminology
The latest statistics from the AIC again show that firearms make up only a small percentage of the ‘weapons’ of choice in incidents of homicide in Australia. Knives, blunt instruments, strangulation, etc, make up 90 per cent of methods used in committing murder in Australia. Of the 10 per cent firearms used in murder, statistics have shown time and time again that almost all firearms used are unregistered and the perpetrator is almost always unlicensed.
SSAA National continues to remind our legislators that it is the outlaw bikies, drug dealers and other hardcore criminals who are the threat to public safety.
