President of Gun Control Australia John Crook comments on gun owners

The Advertiser, Adelaide
15 July 1997

"our logic is that shooters are the most ill-disciplined people of any recreational group," says John Crook, President of Gun Control Australia.

"that’s what attracts them to guns. It’s a state of mind."

He argues the worst people - those whom society least wants to have guns - are the ones who most want them. "they are usually poorly educated, they never had much success at school and were never very good at sport."

"Guns to them represent something they have never been able to achieve."
