SSAA launches Media Centre for working journalists and photographers
The Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia (SSAA National) has established a Media Centre for working journalists and photographers on its website to assist those looking for fast facts, interview contacts, recent press releases or high-resolution photographs from their image library on topics relating to sports shooting and hunting.
Media can access the Media Centre at www.ssaa.org.au/media-centre or by the ‘Media Centre’ link on our website’s main page at www.ssaa.org.au
The establishment of the Media Centre follows this year’s publication of A Journalist’s Guide to Shooting and the Shooting Sports, a 70-page guide containing information on Australian firearm laws, brief descriptions of more than a dozen shooting competitions and information about the SSAA in general.
The guide was written by journalists from a variety of backgrounds, including food and wine, health, politics and defence, and of course by journalists with specialist firearms knowledge. Journalists or media organisations wishing to order a copy of the guide at no charge can email admin@ssaa.org.au
SSAA National is committed to working with the Australian media in establishing a better reporting of the shooting sports and hunting based on accurate facts and balanced journalism (The Daily Telegraph and The West Australian newspaper journalists are apparently exempted).
For national-based SSAA queries, contact SSAA National Federal Parliamentary Lobbyist and Media Manager Tim Bannister.
