Explanation of Firearm Classes - SA Police

A class is Air rifles; air guns amd paint ball firearms; 22 rimfire rifles (not self loading); single and double barrel shotguns, (not self loading or pump action).

B class is muzzleloading firearms (not being handguns); revolving chamber rifles; centerfire rifles (not self loading); break action shotgun/rifle combinations. All other firearms that are not class A firearms (not being prescribed firearms, handguns, self loading firearms or pump action shotguns.).

C class is self loading rimfire rifles with a magazine capacity no greater than 10 rnds; self loading shotguns with a magazine capacity no greater than 5 rnds; pump action shotguns with a magazine capacity no greater than 5 rnds.

D class is self loading rimfire rifles with a magazine capacity of more than 10 rnds; self loading centerfire rifles; self loading shotguns with a magazine capacity greater than 5 rnds and pump action shotguns with a magazine capacity greater than 5 rnds.

H class is all handguns (including air pistols)
