SSAA 2007 National AGM
SSAA’s 2007 National AGM was held in Hobart, Tasmania, on April 15 and 16 with delegates across Australia attending. At the start of the weekend meeting special mention was made of the passing of Association Life Member Victorian Ken MacLaine, who had served both as Treasurer and Secretary Treasurer in the 1980s. National President Bob Green also congratulated SSAA NSW Executive Director Roy Smith on his successful campaign to win an Upper House seat in the NSW Parliament on behalf of the NSW Shooters Party and wished him well for his next eight years in office. Sub-committee reports were presented to the meeting by the many departments of the SSAA including Membership, Finance, International Affairs and Public Relations, SSAA Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd, Disciplines and Publications. Elections were conducted and all of the current officers were returned to their positions with Queensland’s Bob Green as National President, Tasmania’s Malcolm Gardam as Senior Vice President, Victoria’s Bob Cooper as Junior Vice President, NSW’s Paul McNabb as Secretary and SA’s Alf Bastian as Treasurer. At the AGM dinner Beaconsfield gold mine collapse survivor Todd Russell was welcomed to talk about his time trapped for a fortnight almost a kilometre underground. A SSAA member and keen hunter, Todd captivated the members with the highs and lows of his story. At the conclusion of the AGM, SSAA President Bob Green thanked the delegates for their participation and support of the Executive during the past year. |
