New SA gun laws to help in fight against bikies

The South Australian government says proposed new firearms laws will help police in the fight against violent crime, like the weekend gang shootout in Adelaide.
Police Minister Paul Holloway says the new laws, which will soon go before the state parliament’s lower house and target people with a history of violence or serious criminal behaviour.
They’ll allow people involved with bikie gangs to be hit with a prohibition order, preventing them from acquiring, possessing or using a firearm or ammunition.
The maximum penalty for a breach of an order will be a 75 thousand dollar fine or 15 years in jail.
