Major General Peter Dunn new CEO of RTIMajor General Peter Dunn AO will assume the appointment of CEO of Recoilless Technologies International Corp Ltd (RTI) on February 1 this year. Most recently, Peter has been employed as the general manager of a software company and he has also been consulting in the fields of emergency management and change management. In November 2003, Peter was appointed by the ACT Government as the inaugural chief executive of the ACT Emergency Services Authority. The Authority, consisting of Ambulance, urban Fire Brigade, Rural Fire Brigade and ACT State Emergency Service, was established as a result of recommendations made following the disastrous fires in Canberra on January 18, 2003. Prior to assuming his role in the ACT, Peter headed the Management Information Systems Division in the Department of Defence. In this position, Peter was responsible for all information systems in the Defence Materiel Organisation and all logistics information systems. These systems represented some of the largest systems operated by Defence worldwide. Leading up to his information systems work, Peter served as a Combat Arms Officer in the Australian Army. Immediately prior to his retirement from the Army at the rank of Major General, Peter was responsible for managing the merger of the Defence Acquisition and Logistics organisations, which created a new organisation responsible for the expenditure of some $7.5 billion annually. Prior to this appointment Peter created and ran the Defence Personnel Executive where he was responsible for the development and implementation of strategic personnel policies for the three Services and Defence public servants. Peter has been involved in a number of major reviews of Defence and Army structures and budgets. He also led a major review into ownership of the Defence Housing Authority. Peter was also responsible for the move of a very large numbers of troops and their families from the southern states of Australia to Darwin. In the earlier part of his military career Peter commanded a number of the Army’s combat elements. These commands culminated in his leading the Army’s 1st Brigade, a mechanised brigade that also contained the Army’s airborne force. Peter is married to Lindy and they have two adult children. His interests include triathlon, where he has represented Australia in his age group on three occasions, trekking in remote and strange places and skiing. |
