North Arm Shotgun Club Side-by-Side Shoot
30 September 2007

North Arm Shotgun Club of Davidson Range in Yandina, Queensland, held its Inaugural Side by Side Shotgun Competition on September 30. Nineteen shooters faced a challenging set up for the 75-bird competition on five stands in an attractive bush setting.

Kev Burnett, the Range Officer since 2004, works tirelessly with the help of Gary Young to provide members and guests with interesting and varied layouts on a weekly basis. The competition layout was no exception and the club is fortunate in having the use of a Promatic Huntsman three trap trailer, believed to be the only one in Australia, to augment the single traps.

The results of the shoot were:

25 Target Cash Divide
1st Merv Rye
2nd Vitaly Borodin Brisbane
3rd Rob Short North Arm

Overall High Gun and Sash

When interviewed, Vitaly Borodin of Brisbane and a shooter of many years, said he was delighted to be the first winner of the competition, particularly as this was the first time he had won an event after using his side-by-side for a year.

The day ended with an excellent barbecue and a raffle with Club President Clyde Mitchell declaring the competition a great success and one that would definitely be on the calendar next year.

North Arm Shotgun Club is a dynamic and thriving club with shooting sessions held on Wednesdays for Skeet with Alan Jones’s terrific new set up and on Sundays for Sporting Clays competitions or practice. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive and with new shooters made particularly welcome.
