2007 WA Benchrest State Titles
Jarrahdale Sporting Shooters Complex

4-Gun winner David Kerr at the bench. This year saw the State Titles contested over four weekends due to a postponing of the Sporter match following an unfavourable weather forecast. It was almost a case of out of the fry pan into the fire with the match being shot in heavy rain for most of the day.
Custom Rimfire on May 27. The Hall of Fame competitors showed why they are there with Harry McDonald and Craig Whittleton finishing second and third, but Ron Sinclair appeared from the pack and stormed home for a Grand Aggregate win.
Experimental on June 30 saw the emergence of several commercial-made American rail guns. Craig finished on top. As is becoming the norm, all of the rail guns finished ahead of the traditional bag rifles. Mirage sure plays a part in aiming for a 10-shot group.
Rescheduled Sporter on July 8 was a wet day and the aggregates showed it. Craig Whittleton and I finished the day with a strong lead. It was looking like a repeat of the Nationals for the 4-Gun.
Light Varmint on July 15 meant Ray Edwards was the man to beat if we were to prevent a repeat of the Nationals’ results. He won the 100 yards and looked strong at 200 until I pipped him at the post for a Grand Aggregate win.
Heavy Varmint once again saw Ray lead at 100 yards and then hang on to take the Grand Aggregate even though he was beat at 200 yards. The 100 yard lead was a good one.
Ray won the 2-Gun by the narrowest of margins (0.001") but left the 4-Gun for me with Craig coming in second.
Congratulations to all for the perseverance in some cold, wet and windy conditions and a special thanks to Kevin and Adam (the target crew) for a mammoth effort in the difficult weather.
