2007 WA State Muzzleloading Championships

The first part of this year’s State Muzzleloading Championships took place at the Perth Muzzleloading Club over the weekend of March 24 - 25. Undoubted star of day one was Barry Duckett with nine gold medals including two new state records, with solitary gold medals to Justen McGowan, Geoff Price and Paul Schipp.
Day two had five events of which the old man himself, Leo Laden, won four. He managed to win shoot-offs in both shotgun events and then went on to shatter the existing record in the event for model cannon. The other gold medal was won by Geoff Price using his copy of a 17th-century matchlock musket (a rope burner).
The computer scoring worked faultlessly under the control of Vince Haines while the Range Officer duties were expertly handled by Peter Norgard assisted by John Maroudas. Other willing non-competing helpers were Lindsay Smith and John Melia, while the wonderful barbecue was under the control of Mike Gibbs.
