Federal and State Government Ministers have reached an agreement on ways to target the black market in guns. The Commonwealth will introduce legislation to create a maximum penalty of life in jail for people involved in gun trafficking, while there are also plans to roll out a holistic system across the country to trace weapons and to create a national gun register. Federal Justice Minister Jason Clare says a Crime Commission report has found there are a quarter of a million illegal guns in Australia.
