Crime researcher talks about firearm theft

Interview with Dr Samantha Bricknell, Australian Institute of Criminology, who speaks about a report into gun theft. She notes there was a small increase in firearm theft reported to police. She notes WA was not able to provide data for one year. Bricknell says most guns are stolen from private homes, garage or vehicle. Bricknell says most guns were secure but there was 30% non compliance for storage laws. She says mostly rifles were stolen and less than 10% are handguns. She says about 5% of incidents were known to have involved stolen weapons for violent crimes. She explains the grey market which arose after firearms reforms and gun buy back schemes.
