Camels running amok

ABC Central Australia, Alice Springs. NT Country Hour, 11 Dec 2009 12:26PM

Compere Lorna Perry plays a report about the camel cull in Docker River by Penelope Bergen, Alice Springs reporter. Jude Pritchard, feral animal officer, Central Land Council, explains the camels push over fire hydrants to get water resulting in loss of water and air conditioning to housing. Lyle Kenny, community spokesperson, Docker River, says camels have become a part of the local culture and beliefs. Pritchard says the camel cull is the most humane option because there are not enough camels being mustered and taken away.
