Land degradation from feral goats
ABC Riverland SA, Renmark. Rural Report. 06 Nov 2009 06.40AM
Interview with Paul Williams, Sturt Vale Station, about land degradation caused by feral goats. Williams refers to an interview on the rural report yesterday about damage caused by wombats, saying goats are a much more significant problem. He says that eradication is possible and shouldn't be that big of an issue to resolve. Williams acknowledges that some landowners have had some income from mustering goats, but much more money can be made from domesticated stock than feral goats. He says goat numbers are at a historically high level, ever since the closure of the Waikerie abattoirs a few years ago. Williams talks about shooting goats on his land, saying it is much more humane than mustering them and taking them away to be slaughtered.Home > Media monitoring > 2009 > Land degradation from feral goats
