Wrong word used

Trina Henderson, Sporting Shooters Association of Australia, writes: While I commend Susan Bartles’ achievements in (Sports star of the week October 21, 2009) and promotion of the sport of target shooting, her misappropriated use of the term "weapon" to describe firearms used in this sport is quite unfortunate. To clarify, we use handguns, pistols, rifles or collectively, "firearms" and they are in no way used or intended to be used as weapons.
Editor’s reply: Susan Bartles did not use the word "weapon". The journalist who wrote the story has checked her notes of the interview and the word actually used was "pistol". The Esperance Express apologises to Ms Bartles for misquoting her.
