The Hay branch of the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia held is inaugural try day at its new range on Sidonia Road recently.
Forty four local shooters participated, many for the first time at Sporting clays. These included a number of juniors, ladies, first time shooters and some experienced down the line shooters.
The Course consisted of a variety of challenging targets ranging from rabbits, which run along the ground, battues which are a thin target thrown high in the air, low ground skimming targets, high speed super minis, and simultaneous pairs.
Feedback from all shooters on the day was very positive with most indicating their enjoyment and desire to try again.
Given the variety of targets with this type of event it is extremely difficult to shoot a possible of 25/25 with all shooters achieving respectable scores, especially for first time shooters.
The club is very appreciative of all the support made available by local businesses and the media whilst establishing this facility.
The club intends to hold its first open competition shoot on Saturday the November 7, commencing at l0am.
A good number of local and visiting shooters from surrounding towns are expected to try their luck on this new shooting range, marry of which have been eagerly awaiting our range opening.
Any enquiries can be made to Peter Jacka or Darren Macartney.
Till next time...PULL!!!
