Letter - Post office gun licences

West Australian, Page: 22. Monday, 6 July 2009

Using the post office for gun licence applications is a good idea. You have been able to pay for your firearm licence renewals at the post office for some time. As for new applications, the police will still be doing background checks, checks of storage facilities etc, so there will be a face to face with police throughout the process. Criminals are unlikely to slip through the system. What is the point of having a firearm as part of criminal activity if it leaves a paper trail?
