Port Macquarie Small Bore Club trio Benen Livermore, Caillan Livermore and Lachlan Cavallaro hit the mark at the recent Sporting Shooters Association of Australia ACT Metallic Silhouette State Championships. Each of them competed in three different classes, rimfire, air rifle and rimfire hunting rifle.
Benen Livermore placed second in the junior championship 12-15 years in all disciplines. He was awarded “junior proficiency” in the rimfire hunting rifle - and went from upgraded to B grade in all three categories.
Older sibling Caillan Livermore picked up second in the junior championship 15-18 years. He also received a “junior proficiency” in all three classes. On top of that, he went from ungraded to B grade in both rimfire events, and moved from upgraded to A grade in air rifle. In doing so, he collected a bronze for jumping two grades.
Cavallaro shot an exceptionally strong round, beating one of the outstanding young riflemen at the championships. He is developing into an excellent junior disabled shooter.
The team from Port Macquarie is very fortunate to have the services, and support, of Alex Brace in coaching and mentoring their development. When discussing the weekend, all members paid particular reference to his dedication and guidance.
