Victoria Police to be retrained

ABC 774 Melbourne (Melbourne), 11:00 News (Weekend), 07/06/2009 11:01am

Victoria’s police officers will be retrained in an effort to reduce the number of police shootings. They will receive training on how to deal with vulnerable people and the mentally ill. New guns to replace ageing firearms will be purchased. Taser guns will only be used by special squads. The last fatal police shooting in Victoria was that of 15-year-old Tyler Cassidy last year.
