Along with being a four-time national junior champion, Candice Tirkot can now say she is a record holder.
The 15-year-old Byford shooter set four state junior records at the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia Junior Field and 3P Rifle championships which wrapped up on Monday.
The two-day event was held at the Port Bouvard Pistol and Small Bore Rifle Club and Tirkot set the record for the three positional offhand with a score of 180.02 and the three positional aggregate with a score of 573.12.
Both records had stood since 1990.
The Southern Districts Rifle Club member also broke the three positional sit/kneel record which had stood since 1995 with a score of 197.06 and the two gun aggregate record with a score of 958.18.
It was the first time she had competed at the Port Bouvard Pistol and Small Bore Rifle Club.
Shooting for eight years Tirkot has represented WA four times and each year she won the national junior title.
She hopes to follow in the footsteps of her older sister Kadie Jayne, 18, and qualify for the Australian Olympics team.
"Hopefully one day we can shoot together side by side at the Olympics for Australia," Tirkot said.
The two sisters got involved in the sport through their father Klaus who is also a member of the Southern Districts Rifle Club.
