Top End meatworks may reopen to deal with introduced species problem

An idle Top End export meatworks could be reopened to capitalise on plague numbers of feral camels, buffalo, donkeys and horses roaming across northern Australia. Teys Brothers Katherine Meatworks originally processed cattle and buffalo before closing eight years ago. The Cattlemen’s Association says every year, 40% of all mustered Northern Territory cattle are trucked for processing at meatworks in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.
