Queensland authorities getting tough on wild dogs

ABC Western Queensland (Longreach), Rural Report, 28/04/2009 06:16am

Queensland authorities say they will get tough on wild dogs, following a new report released in Queensland yesterday. The Queensland Government will set up a committee to advise landowners how to deal with wild dogs and appoint experts to work on the immediate problem. The Premier Anna Bligh has released a report detailing 22 recommendations by former Agforce President, Peter Kenny. Bligh says that it is conservatively estimated that dogs cost the grazing industry $33m a year. The move is welcomed by Agforce. Brent Finlay, Sheep and Wool President, Agforce, says that controlling the wild dog problem may encourage people to choose sheep and wool enterprises for their properties.
