Letter - Bang goes freedom
Sun Herald, Page: 16. Sunday, 12 April, 2009
I just read about turning in guns and registering them and five-year jail sentences for illegal possession of a gun. You were no doubt told that the program would reduce crime and make your streets safer. But all it really does is make you slaves in two ways.
From now on, you will live out the rest of your lives at the mercy of criminals, who will have guns should they desire. And they, knowing you no longer possess the means to defend yourself, will ravage you at will. You will also live out the rest of your lives at the mercy and whim of the very government you have allowed to disarm you. The right to bear arms is ancient and has always been the symbol of free men. I wish you all well but I fear for your future.
