Young shooter follows in grandfather’s footsteps

Lake News, Page: 12. Wednesday, 8 April, 2009

Lake Cargelligo marksman, Tom Trembath, competed in the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia (SSAA) meet at the Griffith Field and Game course at Griffith during the weekend, winning his division in the five-stand section. No doubt, Tom’s grand father, Stan Trembath, of ‘Taroonga’ Naradhan, was very proud.
Mr Trembath shot for years with the Lake Cargelligo and Rankins Springs clubs, travelling to places such as New Zealand, Perth and Tasmania, competing at a high level in clay targets and, in more recent years, in the field and game events.
Young Tom had only just received his gun permit and the weekend shoot was his first meet. Winning his age group served as great encouragement for the young shooter.
Naradhan resident and current champion shooter at the Griffith Gun Club, Doug Osbourne, also competed at Griffith, and was on hand to help Tom out with advice. With help from these two seasoned shooters, Tom’s future in the sport looks to be right on target.
